FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Function Finder, the STL EDM event discovery platform.
Where are raves in St. Louis?
St. Louis raves and EDM events happen at a rotating set of venues across the metro: Mississippi Underground (Soulard warehouse vibe), The Sovereign (downtown club nights), Ryse Nightclub (Westport), Old Rock House (Lafayette Square), Europe Night Club, and The Factory (Chesterfield) for bigger touring shows. Pop-up warehouse parties from crews like Umbrella Underground and Cosmic Noise also run year-round. Browse all STL EDM venues to see capacities, neighborhoods, and upcoming shows at each spot.
What is the STL EDM scene like?
The STL EDM scene is small but tight — built around a handful of dedicated promoters (Downright Entertainment, B&W Productions, Umbrella Underground, Cosmic Noise) and a recurring set of venues. Genres lean dubstep and bass-heavy on weekends, with house and techno nights mixed in. Touring acts like Dr. Fresch, Subtronics, and Boogie T regularly cycle through, and local STL DJs fill out support slots. Function Finder tracks every public EDM event in St. Louis automatically.
Are there EDM events in St. Louis tonight or this weekend?
Yes — most weekends have at least one EDM event running in St. Louis, and bigger weekends will stack 2-3 simultaneously across different venues. Function Finder shows the next upcoming events on the homepage, with the full chronological list on /events. You can filter by genre (dubstep, house, techno, drum & bass) or browse by venue to find what's happening tonight, this weekend, or next month.
Where can I find EDM concerts and raves in St. Louis?
EDM concerts and raves in St. Louis are scattered across Facebook event pages, Instagram stories, and promoter group chats — which is why Function Finder exists. We aggregate every public EDM event from official STL promoter pages into one spot, updated every 6 hours. Just check /events for the full upcoming list.
Why is my event not listed?
Function Finder is currently in beta and only monitors a handful of promoter event pages in the St. Louis area. When the site goes out of beta, you can email us at [email protected] and we can figure out how to get your events listed.
How does the site work?
Function Finder is fully autonomous. It automatically scrapes public Facebook event pages from local promoters every 6 hours using Zyte, a web scraping service. The raw event data is then normalized and structured by Anthropic's Claude AI, and artist genres are tagged using Last.fm's community data. Everything is stored in a PostgreSQL database and served through a Next.js application. No manual work required—events, flyer images, lineups, and genres all update on their own.
How often is the site updated?
The scraper runs automatically every 6 hours (4 times a day), so new events typically appear within hours of being posted by promoters. Event details like times, venues, and flyer images are also kept up to date as promoters make changes.
Can I submit my own event?
Not yet. Manual event submissions are on the roadmap and will be available once the site moves out of beta. In the meantime, if you're a promoter or organizer, reach out at [email protected] and we can look into adding your event page as a source.
Why is an event missing its flyer image?
Flyer images are automatically scraped from Facebook event pages. Some events are listed without a cover image, or the image may not be available in a format our scraper can pick up. If you notice a missing image, let us know and we can look into it.
How accurate is the event information?
Event data is automatically extracted and normalized from promoter pages using AI, so occasional errors can happen—a time might be off, or a venue name might not match perfectly. If you spot something wrong, email us at [email protected] and we'll fix it.
I have a good idea for a feature. How do I contact you?
Email us at [email protected]. We'd love to hear your ideas.
Is this site going to cost anything?
Function Finder will always be free. At some point we may add some non-invasive advertisements to help offset server, scraping, and API costs, but the core experience will remain free for everyone.
